Deputy Financial Manager – Wynberg Cape Town

Our NGO client in Wynberg is looking for a Deputy Finance Manager to report to the Finance Manager and will deputise for the Finance Manager where need. To assist the Finance Manager with the establishment, maintenance and operation of financial and management procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. This is a senior management position requiring a high degree of accounting and Pastel expertise, the ability to exercise ethical responsibility and accountability, and the capacity to function with minimal supervision as part of a team.

Salary up to R 750 000 per annul all benefits included

Minimum Requirements

  • A Degree/Diploma in an Accounting / Finance field from a recognized university; or demonstrate equivalence of having fulfilled a similar role for at least 8-10 years
  • At least four (4) years’ experience in a Management position will be an advantage
  • At least five (5) years’ comprehensive experience in a similar finance role, or showing excellent regression to this level
  • Experience in the preparation and finalization of accounts in accordance with current South African regulations
  • Experience in goods and services procurement processes
  • Ability to work at both a detailed and strategic level – e.g. making payments and producing annual financial delivery plans, etc

 

Duties Include

  • Assist with the maintenance of companies’ financial records in the Pastel accounting system;
  • Assist with producing monthly financial management reports, including variance analysis and related reports;
  • Assist with the monthly customer invoices and statements for bandwidth services, access builds, and other services as may be required;
  • Record receipt of payments from client institutions, monitor ageing of receivables and pursue settlement of overdue accounts;
  • Issue purchase orders in compliance with policies and maintain a purchase order register;
  • Maintain asset registers, and depreciation of assets;
  • Maintain contracts database;
  • Maintain insurance register and ensure that appropriate insurance is in place always;
  • Assist with the capturing of receipts and expenditures of projects;
  • Prepare quantitative reports for Sponsors;
  • Monitor compliance with financial terms of grant agreements;
  • Prepare VAT reconciliations as appropriate and submit completed returns to SARS in a timely manner, including requisition for payment thereof if required;
  • Complete and submit annual income tax return;
  • Complete and submit statistical reports as required;
  • Assist with the preparation for and conducting of annual external audits;
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, and issue monthly budget performance reports;
  • Liaise with auditors in consultation with the Finance Manager;
  • Assist with the preparation of completed financial statements for review by auditors.
